Rexcalibur and Rexflame

Rexcalibur and Rexflame are tomes that were available in multiple English Fire Emblem games excluding Path of Radiance. They appeared in the GBA games under the names Fimbulvetr and Forblaze. Many gamers were displeased when there were only two S-Level tomes in PoR (Rexbolt and Rexaura), despite there being four different types of magic tomes.

However, the other two types of magic actually did have S-Level tomes programmed into the game. When the actual storyline was made the two tomes were never added. Despite that, the tomes were left in the game. Because of this, it is possible to acquire the tomes using Action Replay.

The codes I use change the 2nd Weapon in Ike's Inventory to the weapon that the code is for. If there is no weapon in the 2nd Slot, the weapon for the code will appear with 0 uses remaining. Also, depending on the weapon you chose to use for the code, it may be impossible to drop it. One less spot in your overall inventory.

Here are the codes in raw format followed by Action Replay format:

I also have codes for generating Rexbolt and Rexaura tomes, so I might as well add them.

I posted videos of each of these tomes on YouTube. The videos start by showing me activating the codes through Action Replay. I added that so people could not say the animation was fake.

GCNcrypt

Action Replay Codes can appear in multiple formats and various Regions and Game IDs. To convert the codes through all the different forms, GCNcrypt is used. I use GCNcrypt v1.41, but there are other available versions.

Click HERE to download GCNcrypt v1.41 This source requires that you create a username on their page.

This download was provided by an unnamed user at:

If you don't want to deal with that site, you can try Version 1.5. Click HERE to download.

This is the original source:

If the download link ever fails, just leave a comment to let me know. If I am still maintaining this blog, then I'll look for another download and update the page. I will probably always use GCNcrypt v1.41, but I doubt there are very many differences between the versions. Version 1.5 should operate the same way for the basic purpose of the program.

Individual lines of Action Replay codes always appear like this:

XXXX-XXXX-XXXXX

Codes can also be posted in raw format. From what I've learned, raw format is independent of all Regions and Game IDs. A single line of raw format looks like this:

XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX

GCNcrypt can be used to convert Action Replay format to raw format and raw format to Action Replay format.

The above image shows a code in raw format that will be converted to Action Replay format. The code was typed into the Input box. The Game ID for the American version of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is 374, so I typed 374 into the Game ID box. The region for my game is USA, so I selected USA under the list of regions. When I click Encrypt, the raw format code will be converted into Action Replay format and shown in the Output box.
The code in the Output box is the code that will be used with the Action Replay hardware.

This image shows a code in Action Replay format that will be converted to raw format. The code was typed into the Input box. Because the code is being decrypted into raw format the program does not require me to type in a Game ID or Region. Both fields can be left alone. However, the Auto Identifier box should be checked. If the box is checked, then GCNcrypt will identify the Game ID and Region of the code. When I click Decrypt, the Action Replay format code will be converted into raw format and shown in the Output box.
The code in the Output box is the code that is in the universal raw format. You may also notice that the Game ID has changed to 401 and the Region changed to PAL. This means that the Game ID for the Input Action Replay code was 401. It also means that the Region for the Input Action Replay code was PAL. Whenever you find a code online, GCNcrypt can be used to determine whether the code is compatible with the game you are using.

I use GCNcrypt primarily to convert raw format codes into Action Replay codes. One of the most reliable sites I have found is ARCentral. That site uses raw format almost exclusively. To utilize their codes, GCNcrypt must be used to convert the codes.

To summarize, the Game ID for a copy of the American version of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is 374 and the Region is USA. GCNcrypt can convert codes into either raw format or Action Replay format.

I'm just making this blog for fun. I thought that if anyone else wanted to use codes that were not initially provided by Datel, then they would probably want to know how to do so. In future entries I will include videos of some of my favorite codes in action. For now, my plan is to use only Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance codes, but I may eventually use other games.
